A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a former governorship candidate, Engr. Oyedele Hakeem Alao, has extended warm Christmas greetings to the good people of Oyo State, calling for renewed faith in God, responsible leadership, and greater youth participation in the political and economic development of the state.
In his Christmas goodwill message to residents of the state, Engr. Alao described the celebration of Christmas as a powerful reminder of love, sacrifice, humility, and service to humanity, virtues which he said must guide leadership and governance at all levels.
According to him, the birth of Jesus Christ symbolizes hope for the oppressed and a call to selfless leadership, stressing that Oyo State and Nigeria at large require leaders who fear God, uphold justice, and genuinely prioritize the welfare of the people over personal interests.
Engr. Alao urged the people of Oyo State to remain united, prayerful, and politically conscious, noting that sustainable development can only be achieved when citizens actively engage in the democratic process and hold leaders accountable.
He placed special emphasis on the youths, describing them as the backbone of the state’s future and the engine of innovation and progress. He cautioned young people against political violence, drug abuse, and manipulation, encouraging them instead to embrace education, skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and constructive political engagement.
“The youths must rise to claim their rightful place in leadership and nation-building. Your voice matters, your future matters, and your participation is critical to the emergence of a better Oyo State,” he said.
Engr. Alao also called on Christians and residents of all faiths to use the season to pray for peace, security, economic recovery, and divine wisdom for leaders at both state and national levels. He emphasized the need to show love to the less privileged and strengthen communal bonds during the festive period.
He concluded by wishing all residents of Oyo State a peaceful Christmas celebration and a prosperous New Year filled with renewed hope, opportunities, and progress for families and communities across the state.
