APC Clears Allow-Alao, 10 Other Oyo Governorship Aspirants for Thursday’s Primary, Denies Adelabu Disqualification Rumour

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has cleared all 11 governorship aspirants in Oyo State to participate in Thursday’s gubernatorial primary election, dismissing reports that former Minister of Power Chief Adebayo Adelabu had been disqualified.

Speaking to journalists at the APC Secretariat in Oke-Ado, Ibadan, on Wednesday, the Chairman of the APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Election Committee in Oyo State, Mr. Taofeek Olawale Abdulsalam, said no aspirant was disqualified.

“All aspirants who were screened for the Governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, are cleared to participate in Thursday’s primary election,” Abdulsalam stated. He added that the committee is determined to conduct a “near perfect” exercise to produce a candidate who can win for APC in 2027.

The clarification came after speculation spread that Adelabu, a leading aspirant, had been barred from the race. Abdulsalam, a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, said only the National leadership of the party in Abuja has the authority to announce results after collation, and urged members to remain calm.
