A leading gubernatorial aspirant and grassroots politician in Oyo State, Engr. Oyedele Hakeem Alao popularly called Allow Alao, on Thursday submitted his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the Oyo State governorship race at the APC National Secretariat, with the submission exercise held at Treasure Suites Hotel, Central Area, Abuja.
The submission was received by some members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress. Party officials at the venue described the process as seamless and hitch-free, ahead of the party’s screening exercise scheduled between Friday May 8 to Tuesday May 12, 2026.
Speaking briefly with newsmen after submitting his forms, Engr. Alao expressed his readiness to participate in the forthcoming Oyo State APC governorship primaries, where the party will select its flagbearer for the 2027 general elections.
Describing himself as a grassroots man, Alao said he was satisfied with the party’s adoption of the direct primary mode of election, noting that it gives every member a say in choosing the candidate. He expressed confidence in emerging victorious at the primaries.
He called on APC faithful in Oyo State to use the primaries as an acid test to prove their loyalty and commitment to the party by voting for a candidate they trust and who understands the party’s structure and values..
“This primary election should be the acid test for our members to prove their worth and vote for a party man they have absolute trust in his aspiration,” he said.
Engr. Alao also reiterated his commitment to his four-pillar agenda if elected governor, focusing on agriculture, health, education, and civil service reform. He said the agenda is designed to address the core developmental challenges facing Oyo State and improve the standard of living for residents.
The submission marks a significant step in Alao’s renewed bid to secure the APC governorship ticket, as aspirants across the state gear up for the screening and primary processes in the coming weeks.
