ENGR. OYEDELE HAKEEM ALAO HAILS TEGBE’S APPOINTMENT AS POWER MINISTER, SAYS ‘RIGHT MAN FOR NIGERIA’S ENERGY TRANSFORMATION’

Describes New Minister Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as “Distinguished Engineer, Reformer with 30+ Years Global Experience”

APC governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Engr. Oyedele Hakeem Alao, popularly known as Allow Alao, has extended warm felicitations to Engr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe following his appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the new Minister of Power, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

n a congratulatory message made available to newsmen on Monday, Engr. Alao, described Tegbe’s appointment as “a masterstroke and a clear signal that President Tinubu is committed to putting round pegs in round holes in Nigeria’s most critical sector”

“He Understands Power, Policy, and People” – Allow Alao said.

Alao also said Tegbe’s distinguished career spanning engineering, consulting, and public policy, with over three decades of expertise, makes him uniquely equipped to tackle Nigeria’s energy challenges.

“Engr. Tegbe is not just an engineer; he is a reformer, a strategist, and a technocrat who understands the nexus between power, productivity, and national prosperity,” Alao stated. “His blend of technical depth, global consulting experience, and policy leadership is exactly what the power sector needs at this defining moment.”

Born on March 21, 1966, in Oyo Town, with ancestral roots from Jegede Compound in Labo area of Ibadan, Tegbe’s journey is one of excellence. He attended St. Mary’s RCM School, Oyo, Federal Government College, Ogbomoso, and the University of Ife, Ile-Ife, where he graduated with a First Class Degree in Civil Engineering in 1988.

A multi-disciplinary professional, Tegbe is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA), Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation (FCIT), and holds a Certification in Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) – reflecting his strong command of finance, taxation, and technology governance.

His career highlights include senior leadership at KPMG Nigeria, where he served as Senior Partner and Head of Technology Advisory Services and Markets. He was also the KPMG Africa Lead for Cybersecurity, Public Sector, and Technology, Media & Telecommunications

Earlier, he worked as Head of Materials Accounting at Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) between 1991 and 1992.

With broad industry experience across telecommunications, financial services, manufacturing, oil and gas, and the public sector, Tegbe has led institutional transformation, reforms, strategy, and IT solution implementation for over 30 years.

Tegbe currently serves as Director-General of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership, Chairman of the National Council for Management Development (NCMD), and Chairman, Boards of Trustees of Unity Schools Old Students Association (USOSA) and Federal Government College Ogbomosho Old Students Association.

He is also an active member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), where he contributes to infrastructure and human capital development policies.

Through the Tegbe Foundation, he supports non-profit and community development initiatives across Nigeria, focusing on education, health, and youth empowerment.

Engr. Alao noted that Tegbe’s appointment is “significant because the power sector is the engine room of Nigeria’s economic growth and development.”

“With Engr. Tegbe’s background in engineering, consulting, and policy, we expect to see innovation, transparency, and measurable reforms,” Alao said. “Nigerians want light. Industries need power. And with him in charge, there is renewed hope.”

He urged stakeholders in the power value chain – GENCOs, DISCOs, TCN, regulators, and consumers – to support the new minister to deliver on President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the energy sector.

“On behalf of my family, associates and Redemption 2027 team, I congratulate my brother, Engr. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe. May God grant him wisdom, strength, and success in this national assignment,” Alao concluded.
